PCS Set to Enter Year Two of PBiS

Much preparation has gone into planning for our second year of participation in the Positive Behavior and intervention Supports (PBiS) program, a school climate and behavior initiative that emphasizes, teaches and promotes positive behaviors.  This summer a PBiS leadership team from PCS  attended the annual four-day PBiS conference, sponsored by the VT Department of Education and held at the Killington Grand.

As always, we expect all of us to show Putney PRIDE: “P” for Participation, “R” for Respect & Responsibility, “I” for Integrity & Independence, “D” for Dedication and “E” for Effort & Excellence.

Panther PRIDE PawStudents are learning how to show Putney PRIDE in every setting within the school, including the bus. When students show “PRIDE” they receive a Panther “PAW” that they place in a jar in their classroom.  Throughout the year, we total up the number of paws that the school has accumulated and celebrate our success at All School Sing. These behaviors will be positively reinforced throughout the school for the remainder of your child’s school career at PCS.

As was the case last year, we would like to invite you to join us in continuing to further the exciting results we have seen from PBiS.  We encourage you to have a family discussion and create a list of family-generated expectations for home. You can start by downloading a copy of the PBiS Matrix to see our school-wide expectation. Then ask yourself, what does it mean to participate, show respect and responsibility, be independent, act with integrity, be dedicated and show effort and excellence at home?

Thanks for taking P-R-I-D-E in PCS!
